Mike, Applied has been able to consistently shrug off continuing weakness for 8 months now. As the clock ticks, odds increase that positive signs in the sector will begin to emerge. If it doesn't happen next month, it appears investors are willing to wait. If it doesn't happen the following month, they'll still wait. Every month that passes will simply mean we're getting closer and folks may become even more intent on holding (or even adding to their positions) . Perhaps the next decisive period will come when we begin to get reports on PC sales for the back-to-school and pre-holiday time frame. If it looks like a weak end-of-year, then AMAT may finally see some selling. In the mean time, I suspect that we'll range mostly sideways for awhile. FWIW, I may soon begin swing trading in both directions.
