Personally, the politics can't be worked out. I don't think this will ever be resolved, short of Jesus' second coming or Judgement day. Neither of the nations are going to go away and they have no way to deal with one another on a friendly basis.

One fantasy that I have had is this: One of the most holy sites in Islam is a Mosque that sets on a site believed to be the place of the ancient temple of Soloman. There is a prophesy some place that this temple would be reconstructed in its original glory before the end of time. Muslims believe the stories of Soloman. I know many Palestinians with the last name of Suleiman...yep, same name only in Arabic. Well the only way for this temple to be reconstructed would be if both sides agreed and if the wealth of the modern world got behind it. The Muslims might agree if there were respect for the existing Mosque as part of the project, and I see no reason for Christians to object since this prophesy is in the Christian theology. Well, prophesy generally does happen sooner or later and it would be nice if it were some sort of reconciliation for these Semetic people.
