Positively Grub Street. So you are in de Nile about the the middle east. Sorry on the Phillistines being Greeks. Sorry. Ask any Greek. They have known it for centuries. But Modern Archaeology coming out of the dark ages of British and German Centric knowledge has in the past two years just caught up. Last year's digs in Tyre And Sidon are confirming that indeed the Phillistines, once the mystery tribe of the ME were indeed Greeks. Tune into the Discovery channel and you will find the references. The Hebrew Alphabet l was originally something entirely different, more like Babylonian and partly pictographic like the Tarot, nothing like the Phoenician's and anyway having aleph and beta does not make it Semitic! The jews did write a semitic script, adopting modern Phoenician after a while, but their language and grammar was different. and they added changes of their own. You can borrow an alphabet to suit your language as many have (the Turks, the Iranians.) As far as the Jews being orientals goes in the ME it is not so strange. The Iranians and Turks are also oriental not Arabic and the Iranians speak an Indo European language with a Semitic alphabet! Why could the Jews not be an Iranian-Russic tribe? Before the used Babylonian script they used something different still, more pictographic. (Chinese?) Some of our knowledge is very warped . We believe as the renaissance thinkers did, that civilization was invented in the middle east. That it sprang from the Tigris Euprates. Our archaology today and DNA testing suggests that in fact this view is very wrong. We have identified steel with carbon in it date to 5000 BC in Europe. We can see across Asia vibrant civilizations in the Indus River Basin, China, the Tarim Basin, Anatolia, the Urals and Northen Europe from beyond 4000 BC. Discard Toynbee and the ancient way of looking at man's development. It did not start in the middle east. The middle east is one chapter in the development. It may be the ME got as much from trade with Asians and Europeans as they got from them. We now know that the Babylonians and Sumerians got, bronze, steel and the wheel from the Europeans and not the other way around. I was not kidding about the Celts trading with the Babylonians and bringing them into the iron age. It is widely accepted now. It may also be that the Phoencian traders got their alphabet from trading with the Europeans who used Runic script about the same time. At any rate there are some obvious similarities and the Runic alphabet fits Germanic so closely and is found so early and so far away from the Phoenician influence that we can hardly prefer one as the origin of the other. You have to differentiate with texts you could have read as late as 1980 with what has been found out in the last 20 years. In this time we have rewritten and questioned every fact we used to take for gospel about man's origins and his development. In fact Xena Warrior princess has many parallels in ancient history. Far more than the deniers of Herodotus the liar would have been willing to admit 30 years ago. Herodotus is emerging in modern times as a sage of veracity as more and more of his observations are being found to be true. There were a race of Amazons who fought on horseback and used bows. Their graves are being dug up in Russia as we speak. Perhaps your combative nature is more firmly rooted in you than you care to admit. But if you don't think so I was only kidding. Honest. EC<:-} The phoenician script resembles old norse or runic script strongly. We don't have an idea how old runic script is a some think it dates from 100 CE and others that it may go back to 2800 BC.
