OT-- No argument from me that Jeffords' political ideology is slightly left of center. One might even fairly label him as a moderate. Neither of which have a very strong foothold in the GOP at the moment. Forgive my political cynicism, but don't 'cha find the timing of the good senator's switch just a bit curious? I mean, what a time for his political consciousness to awaken...in the midst of a deadlocked 50-50 senate, when the premium for party switching is at a max! I bet the strong liklihood that he was vigorously courted by the dems offering who-knows-what to switch played no part whatsoever in his decision. Yeah right!!!

BTW, wouldn't it be fascinating to watch a democratic senator have a similar political awakening? =:-}
