Fyo, Re:For truly critical systems, I would never go with hardware that hasn't been shipping in volume for at least a year.

Does that mean you'd rule out running nuclear plant control software on Win64-Beta on a spankin' new Dell Itanium box? <ggg>

Fyo - Re:"That's why "proven and stable" is not something achieved overnight - or even by 6 months of OEM testing. For truly critical systems, I would never go with hardware that hasn't been shipping in volume for at least a year. "

Excellent points.

You might bring these to the attention of certain AMdroids who expect AMD to have 50% of the server market on June 5 - a day after AMD & Tyan announce a dual AthWiper system.

our TI people are of the same opinion and that is why our company still pays 5K+ for a pc. :-)) Of course we do get 10% volume discount :-)) and we are all so happy to contribute to dell's profits too.
but seriously speaking, did you expect such a support for athlon when it came out, I did not. So you never know....
