Was the fact that California needs to import power manufactured? Seems to me that is the crux if its' problem.

Sure, and nuclear has as much right to lobby for their industry as the tree huggers do for their cause. You and I are both probably in agreement that the lobby system is susceptible to corruption. But anti-Constitutional remedies like McCain's only make the the political will of Americans even more likely to be thwarted. Carter blamed it on the American enterprise system as well, look where that got him. My Rep is Sam Johnson. Who is yours? How much time do you spend with your local democrat organizations a week? Are you truly skeptical, or just repeating slogans?
