You said,

"And
then I started reading Dilbert comic strip and found out I was a complete idiot.
"

Then you said,

" I see the productivity gains these last 5 years is because of the Internet/HTML .... anyone with a 4 grade education could put up a web site in a week. In the 80's that used to take 6 months ...
These productivity gains have been implemented and can't be realized again.
"

This makes me wonder just how far your evolution from complete idiot has progressed. LOL

Most economists (as opposed to engineers) would define productivity as the ratio of Output to Input. Putting up a website quickly may have nothing whatsoever to do with improving productivity either by reducing the costs of Inputs or raising the Value of Outputs. To wit, the hundreds of dot coms that were actually dot bombs.

And implementing one web process does not eliminate all further opportunities to innovate or make substantial improvements in that same process or other business processes which improve the overall business. However, your thinking does help one understand why many of your projects ended up being cancelled.
