McKinley by year end 2001? I don't think so. Point me to a URL where even Intel is that optimistic. They're just barely getting started with Itanium, and the availability of native software is a big issue Yes... that may be a bit optimistic. Probably late first quarter 2002 is more realistic. I don't think it improves Sun's prospects however. By the way, when can we expect to see high end USIII boxes?? I wouldn't get too excited about the "operating system support" Microsoft is likely to provide. Again, a matter of timing. But I believe it will be ready for the McKinley release. Power4, and IBM in general, are competition, but that's nothing new. You and others have been telling us for years that IBM (SGI, DEC, HP, CPQ, DELL ... take your pick) would run Sun out of business. It hasn't happened. I get the impression that IBM in particular wishes the Unix market would just go away so they could get on with selling mainframes. I never said they would run Sun out of business. I said that the competitive balance would change putting Sun's margins under intense pressure which would kill the stock price. Haven't you gotten up early to get any of those Sun sell off bargains recently?? You are truly clueless regarding IBM. Last quarter, they were profitable in mainframes, UNIX boxes, and on Wintel systems. They fully intend to stay invested, and remain profitable in all three. If Sun is not careful, they will have trouble making money on anything next quarter. You have been listening to Sun's hype for far too long. THE WATSONYOUTH
