Arafat is the "Jesse Jackson" of international political extorsion. Do things "his way", or bad things will happen to your nation and your people because you support the "Zionists". Arafat supported Iraq. Arafat condones muslim extremists who have launched terrorist attacks in many European nations (they haven't forgotten). Arafat was the leader who was responsible for the Munich hostage crisis. Arafat was the one responsible to attempting to overthrow Jordan's King Hussein. But I do agree that Arafat is the spokesman for millions of Palestinians who have (wrongly?) thrown their lot in with his agenda, although it may not be conducive to achieving peace and opportunity for his own people. His death would create a "wild card" scenario that could be counter-productive to Israel, as could create a power shift towards greater extremism amongst Palestinians who would make him a convenient and powerful martyr to their cause. But it Arafat crosses the line to the point where he's become a direct military threat to Israeli security, they will take him out (and not to dinner), and let the chips fall where they may. If Israel can make the case that Arafat is waging war against Israel, he immediately becomes as legitimate a military target for the Israelis as Saddam Hussein was for the US during the Gulf War. Hawk
