You asked if there were any reason to infer influence. I tried to answer by showing that the cases were too dissimilar to make such an inference. At the level of greatest generality, the structure of the atom is similar to the structure of a solar system, but get them in focus, and they are two different things.

It is true enough that finding the right balance among the passions, and between the passions and reason, is important to orienting ourselves in the world, and conduces to greater insight than would be true if everything were in a tangle. Thus, an emphasis on the common theme of equilibrium seems reasonable.

I suppose that if one falls short of the path, one falls short of what the path is supposed to lead to.....
