Faults are known to trap oil and the evidence of this are the four discovered and proven oilfields sitting right on MKF: Maybulak, Aryskum, Konys and Bektas. Give or take, the total length between them is about 150 km. Naturally, MKF extends beyond the discoveries, on both sides. 2. The AA' horizontal line from west to east is schematically presented in cross-section on Slide #16. Although the orientation slightly distorts the dimensions by being at an angle to the fault, the Aryskum Graben is enormous and by far the largest of the three. Using the scale on the left, the unexplored portion is at least 10 by 10 km and possibly larger. Its size completely dwarfs the Kumkol field. 3. Both Aryskum and Maybulak fields seem to be shallow pools of oil migrated from the deeper source rocks in the Aryskum Graben. If the Graben extends continuously all the way from Maybulak to Bektas, its size could be 10x10x150 km and possibly much larger. 4. From all three Grabens, the KAM fields are the only area where our interest is full 100%. 5. Towards the end of last year, HHLA made an important decision to concentrate all new development in the KAM fields, obviously made as a result of the largest economic return expected. 6. It is interesting, that shortly afterwards the Karavanchy exploration well, scheduled to be spudded in mid-December, was postponed and instead HHLA drilled two wells in Maybulak; "one was drilled and completed in January and a second well has been drilled and at the end of March was being cored". 7. If the Maybulak wells were drilled to confirm the extension of the Aryskum Graben, then the answer may have been known before CAIH made the bid on Apr.12 and you can take the speculation from here. 8. Somehow, I wish that the dividend has a record date on June 15 and that the independent valuation is released on June 13. You could be an Aryskum Graben oil baron by then. Forecaster
