I feel like I have absolutely no representation in the other Washington, no voice. I have made it known to all of my liberal as well as conservative friends that I will not remain silent on the issues that are important to me. I feel bullied, criticized, disrespected and belittled for my beliefs. I have been told that I am "old fashioned" (hey I'm a middle boomer) and my ideas are passe' or wrong or dumb or not with it. I'm only talking about believing that the traditional American family is a Father, Mother and kids. Those kinds of beliefs. Passe'?????? I am frustrated at the unwillingness of my liberal friends to partake in any meaningful discussion which is in disagreement with their position. Most simply refuse to entertain the thought that someone other than a liberal could possibly have other thoughts and ideas or dreams about how things should be run and that they might have merit. I now recognize and call this elitism. It is this lack of willingness to listen, explore, discuss, argue, and come to an agreement, even if it is an agreement to disagree that is dividing this nation imo. I could go on but perhaps you are right, a lunch among like minded people would be the most refreshing social event that includes a discussion about politics that we could attend. Although I do find this thread lively and fairly open. Name a time and place and I'm there. ;-) M PS I might just add that I am totally embarrassed to be represented by Patty Murray.
