So where is that public statement from Ralph that "Gee, folks, I was wrong about Al Gore. He isn't owned by the corporations." A much-needed lesson for you in presidential politics: Ralph definitely belongs in a rubber room, but he's not going to be put in one. And any Democratic candidate that would satisfy him enough to keep him out of the 2004 race couldn't outpoll Michael Dukakus. McCain got 25% of the REPUBLICAN vote in the 2000 primaries. And that was before it became apparent to those Republicans what a yahoo he is. Who do you think he'd hurt as a 3rd party candidate in 2004?

Judge W's vision after he has completed his term. I thought he would be a competent administrator who would benefit in image after the relentless stink of Clinton/Gore. That is still true, but his political capabilities, as shown by the successes of the first four months, have pleasantly surprised me. Look for more cleanup of the disastrous Republican lineup in the Senate. Bush doesn't need a partisan majority there, as he has proven (much to my surprise). In fact, he seems to work better without one.
