Powell urges restraint in Israel's response to attack

WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State Colin Powell warned Sunday that an Israeli retaliation against the Palestinians for a deadly disco bombing risked sending the Middle East into an "abyss" of violence. He challenged Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to enforce a self-imposed cease-fire. While Friday's attack on the Tel Aviv beachfront inflamed Middle East tensions and complicated the peace process, Powell said "some good can come out of that if we can get this process started again
