yeah, yeah, yeah. we all know the internet is going to change the world. the telephone and telegraph changed the world. so did radio. so did tv. so did electricity. so did the printing press. so did the cotton gin. so did the steam engine. so did the automobile. so did the railroads. so did gunpowder. so did aviation. so did the atom bomb. so did the wheel. so did fire. how is it going to help corporate profits in the next few years?

Fiber is being extended all the way to the home at an increasing rate. Last week (as you know), Pacific Bell DSL was having major problems. I have a dial-in "back up" connection, and I couldn't believe how quickly I've become accustomed to using DSL, and how annoying it is to be using a dial in modem! Some of the "projects" I needed to do using the Internet, I just decided to put "on hold" until the DSL was working again. Today I played in another tennis match, and as I was watching the other players a group of us were talking about the various ways we use the Internet. Different age groups and backgrounds were represented, and the comments were interesting. All of us have a high speed connection, and we all agreed that "going back" to dial in access would be "painful". Thanks for the P & F charts you posted on your board....I appreciate your comments!
