yup, and somebody who works at home much of the time, if I don't have my network connection, I am crippled. That is still the biggest hurdle to successful deployment of broadband to the home, the idea of reliability is still not considered sacred.

Libbt, I am so amazed that broadband isn't more widely used already. It is such a totally different experience on the net with it. I would trade in my satellite TV thingy before giving up DSL. And, total ownership cost isn't much more expensive than dialup; I used to have 2 phone lines, 1 for phone, 1 for computer - with DSL I save that cost, and the isp is included, too.

i'm not trying to start an argument with you but i'm going to use your comments as a springboard for my argument with others..

>> All of us have a high speed connection, and we all agreed that "going back" to dial in access would be "painful". <<

well I'm sure in 1929 people might have been saying to their friends, "now that we all have cars we agree that going back to horses would be 'painful'!"

doesn't mean it was a good time to be buying stocks.
