The Palestinian people are definitely the victims, but they are victimized by their own leadership and their Arab brothers. It was a coalition of Arab countries that prevented the 1947 partition resolution to be implemented. The Palestinians would have had a 50 plus year old state by now. It was Jordan that annexed the west bank (and occupied it) for 20 years of the last 50 years. It was Egypt, Syria and Jordan that brought about the 1967 conflict in which the west bank came under Israeli control. Except of the 1956 conflict which was instigated by France and the UK (in reaction to soviet backed blocking of the Suez canal), all the conflicts in the last fifty years and the misery suffered by Palestinians was brought about by the Arab world. Now that the Soviets are no longer brewing their own middle eastern brew of instability, there is no longer any reason to continue the tension there.

That whole concept that the Arabs are the "victims" is ridiculous. There has been a long held philosophy and indoctrination of the masses that Israel will eventually be eradicated, as long as that ideology is allowed to survive with its hate impregnated propaganda (only in Arabic, so that the western world does not get too upset), there will be no peace there.
