Paul, re: Compaq's new 8-way P3 Xeon server announcement,

Very interesting. Apparently the 8-way Profusion chipset still has a lot of life left. In order to support PCI-X, Compaq must have developed a new south bridge for the Profusion chipset. This shouldn't be hard for Compaq, considering that they also designed the old south bridge. But it's a sign that Compaq plans on continuing the Profusion platform for quite a while. This is remarkable given that 8-way platforms seem to have taken a back seat to all of the hoopla surrounding 2-way servers, especially the ultra-slim variety.

By the way, did you notice the 14U "rack-optimized" form factor of Compaq's 8-way server? Geez, I'd hate to be the guy who has to lift that monster up and slide it into the rack!

Paul
what do you think of the performance of i815 in 3d Mark 2000 10by7by32 in fcenter.ru
Impressive, is not it? <ggggg>
could you remind me what is the ratio of 2690/0? I'd say nForce is almost as good as i815 or is it 2690/0 i815s....
