My apologies for interrupting this pissing match with an on topic joke. Sure hope it's not a recent repeat. <g>

This blonde goes into a restaurant and notices there's a "peel and win"
sticker on her coffee cup.

So she peels it off and starts screaming, "I've won a motor home! I've
won a motor home!"

The waitress says, "That's impossible. The biggest prize is a mini-van."

But the blonde keeps screaming, "I've won a motor home! I've won a motor
home."

Finally the manager comes over and says, "Ma'am, I'm sorry, but you're mistaken.
You couldn't possibly have won a motor home because we didn't have that as a prize!"

The blonde says, "No it's not a mistake. I've won a motor home!"

And she hands the ticket to the manager and he reads . . . WIN A BAGEL

Why not? "don't take isolated verses and make them mean something else, just to "illustrate a point"!" It is done every Sunday in the pulpits across the world. Prime example is the fact that the largest Christian denomination in this country is the Southern Baptist and they didn't have any problem isolating a few verses to justify slavery and thereby create their association of believers in slavery.

Lets not forget the fastest growing denomination in this country and their isolation of a few verses to promote and justify bigamy. Here I'm speaking of the great church domiciled in Utah.

Would you care for a few more, or does this "illustrate a point" in a clear manner?

Bottomline for me! Give me that urine over the cow dung, anytime! And for the setting on fire of the foxes, these poor critters can't get a break. Look now at the controversy of the British fox hunters and the efforts to ban the fox hunt ritual in that country. I guess their main defense is that if the Bible ok'ed setting them on fire, what is wrong in chasing them down with hounds. Oh! The ways we justify the killing of something.

I totally agree with you!!!

I personally thought that that verse was wrongly interpreted. But, mind you, because so many verses have been interpreted in diverse ways and given different spins, we have so many different sects today (starting with Martin Luther's Lutherans).

As for the references you wanted, I vaguely recall a Bible scholar referred them to me many years ago. But I lost all the vital information when my pc crashed and the entire hard drive had to be fdisked/formatted.

I lost interest in Bible studies many years ago. But if and when I come across the relevant references, I will pass them on to you.

I don't drink the so-called "water of life" myself, but my contribution of it (when I was a little kid 50 years ago) was credited with having saved a life!!!
