I would just like to see a glimmer of light at the end of the communications tunnel.

Hell, at this point I think Cisco would as well! Intel now finally has a competitive communications infrastructure. It won't, however, be profitable until the industry is profitable again...

Re: "I'm looking forward to seeing the Intel 2nd quarter results, wrt to the "other businesses" (maybe not). I have a suspicion that IAG will be fine, but that we may be sunk, again, by "other".

As every communications/server company has indicated, business sucks - so don't expect any miracles from Intel in this area for Q2.

The announcements today are for new products - and they probably won't generate significant revenue for many quarters to come - especially since a rebound in the overall communications business is required.

Re:" I would just like to see a glimmer of light at the end of the communications tunnel."

I know you would.

Intel has spent nearly 30 years driving its microprocessor engine . To expect profitability in new businesses - communications - that Intel has only been in for a couple of years - against competitors with MANY MORE years of experience - is unrealistic in the short term.

It will take quite while for this to happen.
