Howard,

Most shocking how poorly alkalines survive. I applaud Epson for including
4 AA NiMH batteries and a pocket charger with a digital camera purchase.
Otherwise this represents another hidden cost that hinders the acceptance
of digital cameras. (I am still pissed at Canon for forcing an additional
$100 purchase for their proprietary rechargeable battery pack on top
of am already pricey digital camera purchase.)

Where as NiMh batteries were better for high current applications like digital cameras and GPS receivers

--and CARS!! NiMH batteries are the preferred solution for EV's and hybrids and also the upcoming 42v systems that will begin replacing 12v systems in cars and trucks in the next few years.
