There are several other great problems with public transportation. 1. It is never located where it needs to be, 2. it is terribly uncomfortable and 3. it often requires one to ride for upwards of half an hour either sitting next to or near hordes of morons.

No. I really don't care if fuel reaches $10 a gallon. I will yet take my car in comfort where and when I will. If fuel begins to rise such that I wish not to pay for it, I will develop alternative solutions to fuel use, amongst the last of which will be public transportation.
