"In the years since 1970 in the US, the radical left has totally triumphed in the worlds of journalism, academia, and certain interest groups whose primary interest is obtaining redistributionist subsidies from the public sector. Unlike the late 19th and early 20th centuries, public sector intervention in private matters for the "best of intentions" has become widely recognized as a failure, while retaining the inertia of millions of citizens who have become dependent on "middle-class entitlements". This situation cannot last, and has already shown great signs of weakness." Are the great signs of weakness you write of in the form of tax relief? Welfare reform? What other "signs" are you speaking of? What other dismantling of the radical left agenda is taking place? I derive 90% of my information through the Internet, and like millions I suspect, I'm very much more informed than I ever was through television. We were all captive of the big 3 evening news shows of the 60s and 70s. I'm ashamed to say I did not recognize the deceit. Want to know what REALLY made me aware of just what was going on? It was the presidency of William Clinton. I simply could not believe some of the reports I was hearing out of the mouths of "respected" ( surely I jest) journalists like Tom, Peter and Dan's mouths. I started looking for alternative news sources and lo and behold my instincts were correct. They were in many regards dishonest. It was the presidency of Bill Clinton that opened my eyes and ears, guess I can thank him for that? The Internet has made me an extremely aware and much less ignorant, naive citizen. I am so glad that an individual with your abilities and knowledge of history is able to convey that knowledge to those of us with less of a grasp. What you say makes sense to me. Thanks. M
