<<Are the great signs of weakness you write of in the form of tax relief? Welfare reform? What other "signs" are you speaking of? What other dismantling of the radical left agenda is taking place?>>

One pure example is the new popularity of Social Security privatization. It wasn't that long ago that the older voters were united on the principle that Social Security had the status of a religious cult, and that voters under 50 must be held hostage to it. Today, slightly over half of adult Americans consider it a scam that affects their financial well-being personally. Bush ran as a candidate who favored privatization and would propose it if elected. He won, partly because of the emerging dominance of this younger "investor class".

Bush WILL propose a weak version of privatization-probably in conjunction with the same desperate Democrats who helped him pass the tax bill. It won't pass in this election cycle, but I am expecting Daschle to make the political error of his career by being trapped into the image of the guy who led the opposition to kill it. It will thus become an even stronger issue in future elections, and being on the wrong side of it will severely damage the left. Expect a version of privatization by 2005 or 2006, which will be gradually strengthened over subsequent years.

Our socialist "liberals" simply can't support this and remain what they are. It is far too fundamental to their Marxian roots. Many "liberal" leaders and their supporters may be shocked at how people they thought they could rely on (especially among the poor and lower middle-class) suddenly become "conservative" due to this issue...
