The expectation is that someday the computers will be able to read it and make some sense of it.

"how big is your hard disk" - "I dont know, but its bigger than I want, never find what Im looking for" situation :?

Re internet hoopla - the biotech stuff is cooking without much echo, but I feel it's far-reachinger that internet.

Internet is a social phase transition (we're freezing to new communication ways, oh well, call it paradigm shift if you want), biotechs is physical phase transition:´"Guys, I can read my own software". Socially the 3 GB of human genome will do light years more than what Internet is pushing on us in terms of EMC/SUNW/IMB/ORCL-stored drivel: Maybe the few internet survivors remaining down the road will come from those who were smart enough to attend courses in genomics and proteomics.

What mother evolution wrote in terms of software, is just awsome.

David, you are confusing the present with the future. They are different. But even the present is pretty amazing compared with information supply and communication a decade ago.
