I don't get it. What was stripped out of Pentium 4 that compares to what was done with the 486SX?

Besides, the issue is reliability here, not features. Ever since the 1.13 GHz recall, every one of Intel's products released since then has demonstrated excellent reliability. Where is the evidence that Intel continues to "truncate their internal test and review procedures" as you claim?
