It hasn't been placed into commercial service. That's the acid test. Will it meet customers expectations? Will they perceive they are getting value for the premium they will pay for the service? Ultimately that's more important than test numbers.

In this recent article titled "Sprint's wireless Net struggles to keep pace"
dailynews.yahoo.com
is about Sprint's high speed fixed wireless service. I'm sure the test numbers looked great, but the customers aren't happy.

I used to have DSL service from Bell Atlantic, now part of Verizon. The hardware worked, but as an ISP bellatlantic.net initially sucked. Domain name server down all the time etc.

We're wasting our time arguing about average speed numbers derived from test results that are plugged into computer models. The real test will be with the customers. Their verdict, not the test numbers, will determine success. The hardware can perform perfectly and Verizon and Sprint could still blow it.
