Dennis: Fair enough.

Agree that the real world is the test.

Just think that there are differences in the way some systems are "tested" than others.

Perhaps my confidence in HDR is entirely misplaced.

But I will be surprised, if so.

Let's see next year.

Best.

re: 3G Options for Venezuela (implications for other Latin American countries)

"CONSULTA PÚBLICA PARA TERCERA GENERACIÓN (VERSIÓN INGLES)"

"The Introduction of 3G in Venezuela", a CONATEL public consultation document.

Very interesting zipped Word document published by CONATEL (COMISIÓN NACIONAL DE TELECOMUNICACIONES) that can be linked from CDG web site but easier to download from this link:

conatel.gov.ve

Addresses spectrum & technology issues and options that many Latin American countries will be working through.

Presumably CDG will be commenting as they have in the past to FCC, ANATEL, MPT, etc.

Dennis - I am just catching up on this thread from over the weekend, so the link is to your post on the Buying Range thread.

It seems that Virgin is putting its money on 1X. As traditional telcos, VZ and PCS might blow 1X marketing-wise, but I have a lot of faith in Branson and his marketing savvy. He is not putting up $1 billion lightly.

So even if Sprint is weak in this area, they look like they will have a strong partner. And VZ can just copy them if they are succeeding.

Also, as I speculated when this story first surfaced, PCS would be getting some substantial cash from Virgin. I would say 25% more than the $800 million cost of the upgrade to 1X is substantial.
