You might be surprised to know that once a thread hits a certain hump or hill, more posts actually cause it to be pushed of the list or at lest that has been my experience.

This thread moved to the top 10 with a mere 15 or so posts after lying dormant since last September. I hope that helps solve the hot list mystery that a few have been trying to figure out.

SI seems to use a math "curve" to calculate the list.
