LOL!!! That's a lot of chest puffing you're doing there, considering someone who didn't have that cajones to re-up, after his mythical first tour.

Of course, you probably got tired of enduring the incessant blanket parties.

However, in the interest of truth, justice, and the American way, you are correct about the initial enlistment MSO being 8 years and the re-enlistment being 6 years.

However, officers apply for, and accept a commission. They, unlike the enlisted fodder, can opt to resign that commission. Theoretically, so long as that commission remains in effect (until age 62), they could be technically be called up in a full or total mobilization.

As for IDF, can you name many US officers who don't admire, if not envy, the abilities of the IDF? A US Military Attache to Israel I once worked with, and who was a F-15 jet jockey, repected the H*LL out of those guys.

And personally, I even believe some of their equipment, like the Merkava MBT, is better than their US equivalent.
