Monday June 11, 12:07 PM EDT

WASHINGTON, June 11 (Reuters) - Cascade Investment LLC, the investment arm of Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) co-founder Bill Gates, increased its stake in Pan American Silver Corp. (PAA) to 13.66 percent from 9.05 percent, according to a filing on Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Cascade bought 2 million common shares of Vancouver-based Pan American on June 5 for $6 million, boosting its position to 5.105 million shares, which it holds for investment purposes only, the filing said.

Shares rose 4 cents to $5.04 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Monday.

gold_tutor or thread : I have a newbie question please?

I am thinking of buying some coins.

Is there any difference between PCGS and NCG grading? I dont understand the grading, is 70 perfect??? is there such a thing?

Would a MS69 or MS70 in a modern american eagle be a good investment vs an older St. Gaudens or Libertys? ie the modern coin is not issued as a "real" coin as were the older ones they were actually in circulation, does that make the modern coins less "real"?

Would it be better to get better grade and rarer coins vs more lesser value coins? I know this is a hard question, but I am wondering if maybe collectors want only the best of the best ie a really good Proof modern only and treat the rest as bullion?

As you can tell, I am very new at this, although like most people I did have a coin collection as a youngster, and have some rudimentary appreciation and knowledge of the realm, although limited.

Thanks for your advice!

PS No need to laugh at me because I am already laughing at myself for these truly dumb questions, I guess I wonder if I should just buy for example 24K maple leaf as close to $268 as possible or get an MS69 or PR69 2001 or a MS63 or MS64 1908?

Also, I have a 2000 silver dollar (not sure whether it is a commemorative or a coin), I show it to just about everybody and get a wide range of reactions. I think it is a classically beautiful coin with a really nice heft and feel. I bought it in Reno and the guy I bought it from told me not to touch it, thats why I carry it around all the time, I think it is worth more than the $10 I paid for it as it was $20 around the corner and is $6.xx wholesale. It doesnt even tarnish like sterling does!
