Personally, I plan to transition from Verizon to Sprint this Fall when 1X arrives. The reason is that every couple of months Verizon totally shafts me with a $200pnone bill when I happen to need to use my phone in a Verizon service area out of state. Charges go up to $1.00/min or more despite my being on the Verizon system. Alternately, PCS will charge no special charges for calls between their service areas. Further, when I am on analog in an area not covered by Sprint, I can pay the $0.39 to $0.69 roam charge and substitute ana 1-800 provider for long distance at $0.049/minute. This saves money, but, mainly, I'll do it because I am really hacked off by Verizon's gouging priceing plans in place even though I am on Verizon's network. Every fool knows that the basic low price for long distance is only $0.04 to $0.05 per minute -- not $0.70 to $1.00 per minute.

I really resent the idea that some Euro company might be allowed to come to the US and install pet Euro technology replacing CDMA 2000 in the year 2005, while the Socialist Euro pricks unite to keep CDMA2000 out of Europe even though it is hivher quality and first to market compared to W-CDMA. Realistically though, who knows what will happen in 2005.

I think it's gonna go the other way eventually; VOD goes cdma2000. Despite all evidence to the contrary, NOK is getting skittish. Has anyone seen the latest Mark Roberts' report on Qcom?
