Some companies (trie to) forbid you to make copies at all. However, here in Germany that's not allowed. The customer always has the right to make copies of his software and can do whatever he wants to do with it (including lending and selling) as long as two different persons don't possess it at the same time.

Josef, Or that you borrowed/rented and returned and made a copy while you had it and do not sell the copy.

That is why they keep trying to outlaw software libraries and rentals.
