It will come down to discretionary dollars very soon with the price of cable subscription going up not only that but the "free web" is going by the wayside, monthly subscriptions Also people will actually have to shell out for software too.

Lack of discretionary dollars will force many people to make these "idiotic" choices of where to spend their buck.

John, I think Stak's point is that the high-end no longer drives demand anymore. People don't care about bleeding-edge technology these days. Instead, they want to see the fastest computer they can buy for $1000-1500.

Of course, the bleeding edge of today becomes the mainstream of tomorrow. But nowadays, the drive in demand is no longer from the top, but more from the bottom of the performance curve.
