Mike,

he's spending far more money to improve our schools then Clinton or Gore ever did

"You can't fix the schools by throwing money at them"

Cummings: You are better at anyone on this thread of taking a snippet of information and delivering a full-blown sermon based on your ASS-umptions of what the person should have said (according to you). You should have become a preacher or a flak for "Bugs" DeLay instead of your current line of work.

Thank you, but I don't need you "interpreting" my posts for the rest of Investorville. The posts are clear enough and everyone who posts here can read. (Although not all can think clearly ... particularly on your side of the aisle.)

So, let's review, one more time, why I think Star Wars is a waste of money:

1. The technology likely will be outdated by the time the system is built. It's doubtful the technology even exists today.

2. If a rogue nation is intent on blowing up a specific American city, there are plenty of lesser-high-tech ways to do so without having to fire a missile from Iraq or North Korea or Libya.

3. Enactment of such a system will give the United States false security ... similar to the false security that the Maginot Line gave the French in 1938.

4. Spending billions for "Star Wars" will pad the wallets of corporate fat-cat friends of Cheney/Bush/Rumsfeld. (I think we're getting real close now to the truth as to why Bush is pushing this expenditure of American tax dollars.)

5. The "60 billion-dollar" price tag is a joke. It'll likely cost close to $1 trillion ... and still not keep out a suicide backpack A-bomber.

So that is why I argue to spend the money instead on improving America's schools. Or give me more in my tax refund. Or use the money to attract better people to the military. Or use the money to improve veterans hospitals. Or pick your own cause.

Star Wars is a waste of money. We can't even successfully shoot down Saddam's Scud missiles. How in the heck would we be able to shoot down a missile 100 times more sophisticated, masked by scores of decoys?
