Re: "The simple fact is, we have no idea how long it will take to build and deploy such a system."

Hey, Mike, I've got a swell idea! Why don't we do a feasibility study first ... before committing $60 trillion to this project!

Wouldn't that be the smart thing to do?!

If we can't even shoot down Saddam's missiles over the sands of Saudi Arabia ... if we can't even land a robot on Mars ... if the British story is true that a couple of guys in a van with some cellular phone gear can, in effect, pinpoint the location of Stealth planes ... far be it for me to question the Rumsfeld/Cheney/Bush triumvirate as to the likelihood that such a system would ever succeed.

Re: "Being the first to develop and deploy such a system, will no doubt ensure our continued leadership toward world peace and national security for another millenia (sic) to come."

Better rethink that one, pal. Or better yet, give it up. You've been listening to too much Rush Limbo lately. A millennium is a thousand years. Let's see ... what were the weapons of choice in the Battle of Hastings in 1066?
