keep us posted with your router progress when you have time, please.

I did a UPS trace on the 50 foot RJ45 I'm waiting for, it's not due here until Monday.
The vendor I ordered the router and cable from has multiple warehouses.
The router came from a bordering state, the cable's coming 2/3 of the way
across the country. I wish I checked the shipping link earlier, I would have
bought a short cord and added the 2nd PC all ready but since I'm busy
this weekend I'll just wait it out. I am going to start with both PCs in one
room. When I'm comfortable with my network I'll move one. BTW I just
got W2K Server so I can get comfy with it before I start W2K server
class in 8 weeks. I'm currently taking an A+ class. My setup will
be a duel boot on my 933 Dell with ME and Server. Dell will only
support the computer with ME so I need to keep it. I'm going to load
W2K on my old 233 MMX. It'll be a little tight but I'm just going to use
it for experimenting with sharing files and permissions and for browsing
and checking Email without having to go downstairs to my office. When
I finish the A+ class I keep the PC that I'll build. I'll use Win 98 and add
it to my network. I might add a 2nd hard drive or use a partition for NT.
I currently have next to no experience with NT.

Have a great weekend

Router update:

The RJ45 cord came today. Install was a snap, I just had to widen a
discreet hole hidden under furniture in the dining room from RJ11 size
(phone cord) to RJ45 size. I get the internet on both PCs, but the Win 98
PC isn't recognizing itself or the other PC in Network Neighbor Hood.
The W2K/ME PC recognizes both PCs but can't access the other one,
I get a message "Network path not found". I probably won't have time
to work on it more until Wednesday. The Win 98 PC's ZA icon in the tray
has a "Q" in the lower left corner. Anyone know what that means?
