ardethan,

<< Break Shaq's ass and put a couple of 450-pound 8-footers on him, and he'll have problems too. >>

LOL!

Sounds like we need to bring back Wilt.

<< This series doesn't support the contention of one of our younger mudges that Iverson is one of the three top scorers of the last 20 years. >>

I think that you're running into problems with this statement because of your "three" figure. Iverson can be counted among the top scorers of the last 20 years, along with Jabbar, Jordon, Bird, McKale, Shaq, Miller, Dumars, Hakeem,Dominique Wilkins, Malone, etc. (I'm sure that I'm forgetting some).

Iverson has been impressive to me, given the limitations of his injuries and lack of supporting cast.

All Eyes Are Now on Lakers' 6-Footer
Meanwhile, Lue's once-anonymous face is on wanted posters throughout Philadelphia. Yesterday morning, Joan Hadden-Smith, an employee of the Cerebral Palsy Association of Delaware County, stopped by the First Union Center with hopes of getting to see some of the Sixers. With tears streaming down her face, she explained that she just wanted to give encouragement to the 76ers, especially Iverson. She said she wanted to tell Lue a thing or two as well.

"He's just hounding him," Hadden-Smith said. "I just watch him and I say, `Look at the hound dog.' He ain't nothing but a hound dog. It's frustrating to see him on Iverson like that. That's the only way he can stop him."

>> Break Shaq's ass...

How many of us do you think it would take?

>> and put a couple of 450-pound 8-footers on him

We may have to wait for a few generations and some genetic enhancements before we'll have anything like that in the NBA.

You may be missing the point here. Iverson is the same size he was when he was named the league's MVP. And this isn't the first series where he has been double teamed and dealt with physically. We have to judge his effectiveness in this series based on what he is accomplishing, not what he might have accomplished if he was something different. Besides, if he were bigger and stronger, he probably wouldn't be as quick.

Willie Pep could have kicked Mohammed Ali's butt if he were 8 inches taller and 75 pounds heavier, but he wasn't. There's an old saying in boxing that a good big man will beat a good little man every time. That's what's being proven in this series.
