I was a little surprised to not see ONIS show greater strength given the upgrade to RSTN. They both sell into the metro space. Though RSTN emphasis on technology that actually hooks customers up versus just the core for ONIS may be the difference.

I think NT is a wait and see proposition. The type of problems they are seeing don't turn around in a quarter. They made some bad mistakes in specific product segments and are paying for it. They have virtually written off all their optical metro products inventory if I understand the press release properly and CIEN, ONIS seem to be eat their lunch in that segment. The wireless side is seeing some slow down in demand also though the deployment of 3G in Japan later this year and the start of projects in China might give them traction. Remember that the more traditional growth in the telecom equipment segment is 15 ot 20 percent. We just came though a revolutionary period where a lot of disruptive technology got deployed. We are now in the evolutionary stage and that is slower. I think they are good company from a technology point of view, but one only has to look at LU to see that great management is also required. I think till Roth is gone you won't see analysts trust the guidance given by NT, so the upside might be limited. The Canadian press is already talking about NT as a classic case study of how not to run a company.
