Eric,

Let's look back at Chaz question, he was asking

Where and under what conditions has EDGE been tested in a real world situation?

And does that mean Chaz was asking IS-856?

Who mentioned HDR?

I certainly see no point of harping on the name convention. Do you always get a red face if somebody calls Tiger as a big cat?

Please link us to an article about the FUT

Sorry pal, not everything is online I would say.

nothing I construe to be "real worldly" about the trialing that has been going on (for some time) with 1xEV-DV
That's why I have to ask you again, do you mean DV or DO?

As for the rest of your response, I'm surprise one simple response led up so much of stuffs from you.

Sometimes things are just as simple as that, so is the answer.

Please link us to an article about the FUT and then link me to a description of the devices employed in the FUT.

I think that this might be a pretty high bar to cross....I dont particuarly remember descriptions of 1x terminals prior to the launch in Korea. Here is a link (which I am pretty sure you are aware of) to the KDDI testing....

bizns.nikkeibp.co.jp

Also, COM DEV stated that they were conducting "Alpha" trials with Alpine PCS. Beta trials should begin during the fourth quarter....deployment during the first quarter of '01.

I'm not sure. I suspect that 1xEV-DO might get to Asia slightly ahead of GSM-EDGE, but I also suspect that GSM-EDGE might get to the States somewhat ahead of 1xEV-DO.

I am curious where you get your bullishness on EDGE. With the exception of AT&T, I have seen very little operator support for EDGE. Almost nothing in the way of timetables....

Eric L: Since my name is being used here, as the person who actually asked the question, I was asking about EDGE. You threw in 1xEV, so whatever you meant by that is up to you.

HDR has been tested carefully and thoroughly and is still being tested in the Korea, Japan (by Hitachi inter alia) and in Canada and the US (by ComDev inter alia) and 1xEV - DO has been tested in close to real world situations by Lucent. Just as I remember.

Where and when has there been anything similar re: EDGE?
(If there have been such tests, I missed them)

Best.

Chaz

PS While EDGE is being used as a word in the press releases and reporting on WCDMA/UMTS infrastructure contracts by Nokia, I have seen no meat on its bones. Perhaps there is some specific info which relates to EDGE as such. If so would be pleased to learn about that.
