The housing market maintains its strength, with housing starts for April coming in above expectations at 1.61 million units. The rise in starts is on the single-family side, with multifamily starts declining. Builders are responding to the strong pace of new home sales that have been fostered by low mortgage interest rates. With residential construction activity holding up, the broader economy is less likely to fall into a recession.

Dear Iqbal, --OT--

I know i'm putting my big fat nose where it doesn't belong, and i'll probably get it bitten off by a mean old fund manager with big teeth, but I just can't sit back and watch this.

With all due respect IQBAL, I don't think that was necessarily a fair characterization. And i hardly think $40 a month comes with the expectations that one is going to be made a millionare overnight. Now, I read those calls, i also read the follow ups, and I kept my mind open. I hardly look to OJ as my market guru and stock picker extraordinaire, but one thing I know is that his trades are real, and his calls are real, and his mistakes are real as well. I am not a subscriber or member of his chatroom either, so i can honestly say i don't have any details.

Ike, I know OJ said some bad things, and I sure don't know what's been happening behind the scenes, but as long as I've been lurking on SI--for almost 5 years now, I've always known OJ to be a stand-up guy. I think everyone know's he's made an awful lot of mistakes (I remember him pounding on the table about KLIC on the TSO thread once), but he's always been able to admit when he was wrong.

Look you guys go way back, and I know you're a pretty forgiving guy, (I remember when you and TT stared each other down once), and I just don't think OJ, even if he did make a bad call would have continued it in the context that you have confered to everyone here.

And to me it's silly to make a big deal out of him charging a few dollars a month to run a chatroom, or put out a newsletter. You know it would be great if some of the fantastic traders like Bart,TT, Nemer, Judy, lisa, Kevin, OJ would come back to SI, play nice and share their thoughts on trading, but life just doesn't work that way. People grow and change. I think OJ has grown and changed alot in 5 years too.

Anyway, I just wish you two wouldn't bang horns over something this silly. Oh, and here's a few links I think you might find interesting:
