My problem with INTC and those in the related PC space is Windows XP. If we go down memory lane Windows 95 was rolled out in June/July time frame, in time for the school season (while I was around I don't remember when win 3.0 was rolled out).

Now we all know the PC companies will offer coupons with free upgrades to XP @ some point (maybe they already are) but anyone who knows better will try to put off the purchase. Installing a new operating system over the old one or doing a clean install (by wiping clean the hard drive) is never a fun task (I'm being kind).

I'd say this has to hurt both INTC and AMD (and Mr Softie but not even close) and all the other suppliers. I don't think this has been fully factored in to the prices (just the economic slow down)

It looks like amat, intc, msft are ready to break triple bottoms and of course the naz looks just great today. On the flip side I feel XP is going to start a whole new upgrade cycle in PC's and software. Its rollout is in October but the market may be thinking about the win2000 slow acceptance.

On a separate note do your turnips have another cut coming. I'm thinking AG cuts again since he's still trying to save the economy from the bubble pop.

Also if your turnips are still thinking around 1,850 you should remind the thread they have been a little too optimistic in this whole bear.

good luck out there

Tim
