Another subject, dog and pony show on Infiniband in Orlando, and Intel partnered with Dell, IBM and QLogic demoing a rather impressive setup: This first InfiniBand architecture-enabled solution stack is based on five Dell PowerEdge servers powered by two Intel® Pentium® III processors. The Linux-based IBM DB2 clustered database supports a leading ERP application. The servers communicate with each other via QLogic fabric switches, and it sounds like they contain Intel Infiniband components and software. I was impressed at the magnitude of the demo at this stage of Infiniband's life: a five node cluster running database software communicating via a fabric switch with Infiniband in it.
