I see the NASD closed at 2031.24 I was looking at earlier data.

Interestingly MRV has lost about half its value relative to the NASD since 1996 even though its a 4 or 5 times larger company in terms of sales and personel. On 27 March 1996 MRV closed at $7.41 and the NASD closed at 1093. Today MRV closed at $7.40 and the NASD closed at 2031.
