To all who dream to fly. Don't wait

My Dad soloed in Honolulu in 1940 (or thereabouts). Everybody knows what happened a year later in Pearl Harbor, and he was forced to put aside his dream. He signed up for the Marine Corps glider program, and again put it aside when the program was scrapped. Lacking a high school diploma, Dad became a PBJ (= Army B-25) navigator instead of pilot. After the war, he put his dream aside again to raise his family. Finally, for his 80th birthday my Mom gave him flying lessons. He worked on it for three years and completed the second of three legs of a three hundred mile cross-country flight. That weekend he went dancing. Three days later he got up, made the coffee...

...and was dead when he hit the floor.
