The great thing about this story is that your dad laid himself aside to promote his country and family. When so many guys seem to hate America (dang idiots), and are abandoning their families left and right, that is a great thing. Your mom sounds like one heck of a gal too. She did exactly the right thing by kick-starting your dad. He likely would not have done it without her help.
