On the third hand, most humanists define a Jew as one who believes in and practices the Judaic religion>>>>

Are those humanists politicaly correct or simply ignorant? <ggg>

There is no controversy. In European Diaspora or Muslim World Diaspora that question did not exist....Only when the Jews started to assimilate in droves in America and became confused about identity of their children <gg> (it still does not exist in Europe..A Jew is a Jew..period)

So your fictional man was walking the streets of Boston with his converted wife....

African-Americans, both of Christian and of Muslim denomination have settled this long-time ago..you got African blood? you can call yourself White, Blue or whatever, you are drafted...

Like African-Americans, Jews know who is a fellow jew and who is not..Religion or much discussed on this thread "conversion" just does not come into this equasition ..it is only for the humanists, nazis, reformed rabbis or those who are on a guilt trip for being intermarried...

Antoine Duquesne's visit to the EU candidate countries

Category: Press Releases by the Belgian EU Presidency

Brief summary: The Interior Minister met recently with a number of his Central and Eastern European counterparts with a view to strengthening bilateral cooperation and in preparation for the forthcoming Belgian Presidency.

Description:
The Interior Minister met recently with a number of his Central and Eastern European counterparts with a view to strengthening bilateral cooperation and in preparation for the forthcoming Belgian Presidency. In recent months Mr Antoine Duquesne has visited Bulgaria (26 November), Slovakia (15 January), Hungary (4 April), Poland (14 May) and Estonia (11 June). He has also been visited by Slovenia's Interior Minister on 15 January.

The purpose of the minister's meetings with officials from EU candidate states was twofold. Firstly, he is eager to intensify bilateral police cooperation between Belgium and the countries in question in order to build a more effective barrier to the various forms of organised crime developing across the continent. The bilateral talks focused in particular on the trade in human beings. The respective ministers all signed bilateral cooperation agreements in this regard and approved action plans for their implementation. These plans mostly concern meetings of police experts for the exchange of experience and the organisation of joint training exercises.

Secondly, the meetings were held to prepare for the Belgian Presidency, most notably in the context of the EU enlargement process. Mr Duquesne took the opportunity to present the broad guidelines of his programme and emphasised the various meetings and activities that the ministers and other officials from the candidate states will be invited to in the autumn. These include, in particular, the debate in the Justice and Home Affairs Council on the trade in human beings, the International Conference on Migration, the Police Chiefs' Task Force and Operation High Impact (joint police operation to be organised on the future borders of an enlarged EU).

Antoine Duquesne also visited border posts in candidate countries in order to assess local authorities' ability to effectively control the movement of people and goods. This capability will be taken into consideration when candidate states' assessment reports are drawn up.

In addition to his tour of the candidate states, Mr Duquesne also visited Russia in April 2001. His mission included the implementation of the bilateral police cooperation agreement and, above all, identifying ways of improving the Russian authorities' repatriation procedure for Russian nationals illegally residing in Belgium.

OK... I was dead wrong on the operation's codename! But heck, I'm probably right on the schedule --summertime...

On the USS Liberty....

lewrockwell.com
Excerpt:

Most significant, 'Liberty's' intercepts may have shown that Israel seized upon sharply rising Arab-Israeli tensions in May-June 1967 to launch a long-planned war to invade and annex the West Bank, Jerusalem, Golan and Sinai.

Far more shocking was Washington's response. Writes Bamford: 'Despite the overwhelming evidence that Israel attacked the ship and killed American servicemen deliberately, the Johnson Administration and Congress covered up the entire incident.' Why?

Domestic politics. Johnson, a man never noted for high moral values, preferred to cover up the attack rather than anger a key constituency and major financial backer of the Democratic Party. Congress was even less eager to touch this 'third rail' issue.

Commander McGonagle was quietly awarded the Medal of Honor for his and his men's heroism - not in the White House, as is usual, but in an obscure ceremony at the Washington Navy Yard. Crew member's graves were inscribed, 'died in the Eastern Mediterranean..' as if they had be killed by disease, rather than hostile action.

A member of President Johnson's staff believed there was a more complex reason for the cover-up: Johnson offered Jewish liberals unconditional backing of Israel, and a cover-up of the 'Liberty' attack, in exchange for the liberal toning down their strident criticism of his policies in the then raging Vietnam War.

Israel, which claims it fought a war of self defense in 1967 and had no prior territorial ambitions, will be much displeased by Bamford's revelations. Those who believe Israel illegally occupies the West Bank and Golan will be emboldened.

Much more important, the US government's long, disgraceful cover-up of the premeditated attack on 'Liberty' has now burst into the open and demands full-scale investigation. After 34 years, the voices of 'Liberty's' dead and wounded seamen must finally be heard.
_______________________

I've read the whole Blood chapter of Bamford's book (each chapter is named after a body part) and I was shocked when Bamford referred to some confidential report quoting Pres. Lyndon Johnson blurting that he didn't give a monkey's about the Liberty! I believe the whole Liberty mess was a HIGH TREASON conspiracy involving Johnson himself (who already compromised himself in the aftermath of the JFK assassination). Since Johnson and his jingoistic Pentagon knew that the 1967 war was started by ISRAEL, they devised a Plan B in case Israel failed to win over Egypt and other Arab/Soviet forces. So, if Israel was losing ground in its deliberate attack against its Arab neighbors then Johnson would have put the blame for the "Liberty incident" on Egypt and offered US public opinion a pretext to engage the US alongside Israel in the conflict.

After all, Johnson didn't enjoy the legitimacy of JFK --he ended up in the big chair because his former boss got slugged. Such a pretext war has been tried again and again: the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam, the Pueblo fiasco off North Korea, etc. etc.
