Crossy- Oh I forgot to mention, GTE(now Verizon) has had VDSL "tests" going on for ten plus years. These "tests" are successful from a technology standpoint. So what do they do? They build an ENTIRE HFC cable plant from scratch to serve 1 million subs right over their VDSL test area. Not a good sign for VDSL viability. -MikeM(From Florida)

MikeM,
thx for your opinion. I had a similar feeling myself and in fact Frank brought up a similar notion up back then. It appears to me that appart from those areas where NGDLCs have been deployed the cost of moving from CO provisioned ADSL (in contrast to DLC provisioned xDSL) to VDSL is not so much lower than moving directly to a PON based FTTH.

I wonder if anything could be done in the domain of upgrade economics to minimize the cost of moving to PON/FTTH when deploying those NGDLCs. Any idea ??

best wishes
CROSSY
