Should not a similar number of small caps be run don as they are taken out of the russel 2000?

Finally, an common oversight with index funds is that contrary to popular belief, these funds generally attempt to mimic the performance of a certain index, not buy everything in it.

They accomplish this by overweighting certain stocks that represent a similar basket of stocks that would parallel the performance of the index they are attempting to track.
For the Russell 2000, I would be shocked if there is a fund that has every stock in that fund.

Just my 2Cents worth from experience in researching funds a few years back.

Some stocks that are exiting the index may be sold, but by no means is a fund tracking the Russell obligated to buy the new additions.
