Empire Energy Perforates Leon County Well, Continues with Cotton Valley Sand Completion

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Jul 11, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Empire Energy Corporation
(OTCBB:EECI) reports today that completion operations on an upper Cotton Valley
Sand interval in its Bedsole No. 1 well, have commenced. Empire operates and
owns a 95% Working Interest within the Bedsole Gas Unit, located in Leon County,
Texas. The results of the initial completion activities, which began on June 13,
are encouraging, indicating that formation characteristics are consistent with
the log interpretations and are conducive to economic gas production from the
targeted upper Cotton Valley Sands over the interval from 12,810 - 12,920.

A net 42' of the target formation was perforated, acidized and swabbed in
preparation for a reservoir stimulation (sand-frac), which is scheduled to occur
the week of July 16. Initial testing following the acid treatment yielded
consistent flow, indicating adequate porosity and permeability, necessary for
achieving successful stimulation. Once the upper 42' section is hydrofractured,
pressure and flow testing will be performed in order to determine ultimate
recovery and optimum daily production rates. Further information will be made
available as progress is made.

Empire Energy To Place Leon County Well Onto Production
OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 13, 2001--Empire Energy Corporation (OTCBB:EECI - news) announces today the positive results of the completion activities on the Bedsole No. 1 well located in Leon County, Texas. The net 42' of upper Cotton Valley sand responded well to stimulation and will soon be placed onto production. The recent flow back stage has been completed with the well stabilizing and reaching sufficient flow to commence production.

A recent pressure build-up sequence resulted in a shut-in pressure of 4,100 psi and the subsequent flow back provided a stabilized gas flow. The pipeline and surface facilities, i.e.: tanks, compressor and separator, are now being installed. It is anticipated that sales will commence this month to Anadarko and a tap has been set in the pipeline which is located approximately 3000' from the well. Due to the presence of oil encountered during the flow back stage, it is anticipated that the well may make oil and thus the surface facilities will be configured to manage and sell gas and any liquid hydrocarbons.

It is expected that the gas flow rate will fluctuate as the well continues to clean up after which an assessment will be made to determine the production rates and ultimate recoveries.

Empire operates and owns a 95% Working Interest within the Bedsole Gas Unit and is currently evaluating development options for the drilling of an additional 6 - 8 wells on the remainder of the acreage.
